Historical romance author, Edwina Kiernan, kicks off a nine-book series with her recent release, The Letter. With each book focusing on one element of the fruit of the Spirit, the Victorian Virtues series takes place in the fictional market town of Lindenfell and even features the daughter of a main character in another of Kiernan's books, Ruby's Redemption (so you might want to snag that one first!). This Exciting New Series Adds Virtue to Faith and Romance!
When I saw the cover for The Letter come through the email from Celebrate Lit, I knew I wanted to read it. But listening to Edwina Kiernan talk about her book, where it stemmed from, and what she plans for the series... Whoa... I was so excited!
I love that Edwina plans on a mixture of classes in this series, and I especially love that she has an elderly woman to stir things up. Add to that a guy running from the law and hiding it, people gossiping about the vicar's wife (I think he's a vicar--clergyman of some kind), and then Grace's personal character arc... EEEP! Let's just say I love when someone who is used to being considered mature for her years discovers she's not as "perfect" as she might have been led to believe. Not that I have any personal experience with that!
Edwina says the goal is one book every November for eight more years, but she's not averse to releasing sooner. Either way, I have a dedicated read for the next near decade. This series is going to be a "DEFINITE READ" each year, and since each one will stand alone, we won't be left wondering what's going to happen as with some authors' series (*whistles innocently*).
